Rebecca's been teaching web-enhanced courses since 1995, and from getting students their first email accounts to facilitating collaborative writing projects in her online classes to publishing her literature students’ interactive hypertext essays on the web, technology makes its way into all of her classes. She teaches Writing, Introduction to Poetry and Introduction to Drama and is listed in Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers.

Ms. B (Bogomolny means "one who prays to God" in Russian) teaches composition and critical thinking. Her classes have focused on such diverse subjects as the literature of migration, biotechnology, and contemporary poetry. She edited the the text New To North America_: Writing by U.S. Immigrants, Their Children and Grandchildren, and is the author of three collections of poetry.
[She is also the author of three collections of poetry, the most recent of which, People Who Do Not Exist, was nominated for a National Book Award.

I teach composition and literature classes, and am involved with a number of committees and activities that aim to promote multicultural understanding and appreciation on campus. I refuel myself by going mentally or physically into nature and other off-campus worlds and find inspiration in others' creativity and joyful company.

She specializes in teaching writing and research, and considers herself a writer who teaches more than a theorist or academic.

Also selected as Journalism Adviser of the Year in 1995 by the Journalism Educators Association of Northern California. Ms. Garcin is a major writer of Journalism: Model Curriculum Guidelines and a co-author of Journalism Framework. Writing is dear to her heart and she hopes to assist students in becoming more proficient writers. In each of her writing courses she selects a variety of literary works, appropriate to the course level, which serve as a basis for stimulating student critical thinking.

In composition classes, my goal is to help students understand the contexts in which they write, and the necessity for adjusting their writing to the needs of their audience. I also want them to realize the frequency and importance of writing in disciplines other than English, especially in business and technical settings. I have taught composition, reading, and ESL for nearly thirty years, from the developmental to the graduate level, including business and technical communication, and specialized courses for international engineering students. I also have been a writing consultant in business and industrial settings, and served as a research consultant for SRI and for the Educational Testing Service.

Ms. Leslie has received the "Excellence in Teaching" award from De Anza College, and the "Discussion Leader Recognition" award from the Great Books Council of San Francisco and Northern California. She is a member of the Modern Language Association, the Academy of American Poets, and the National Council of Teachers of English. By teaching, writing, and community service, Ms. Leslie continues her lifelong fascination with the ways we use language both to take an ax to the "frozen seas within us" (in the words of Franz Kafka) and to bring us closer to ourselves and to each other.
