News and Events
The De Anza College English as a Second Language program (ESL) offers about 70 classes each quarter (fall, winter, spring) serving over 1500 students who speak over 60 different languages. We also offer a smaller program (about 25 classes serving about 650 students) each summer.
De Anza's fall 2007 quarter begins September 24. If you're interested in studying English as a Second Language (ESL) at De Anza, all the information you need is in the Schedule of Classes.
The De Anza Web site has the schedule. Or you can get a printed schedule here on campus at the Bookstore.
In the printed schedule you will find ESL classes between Engineering and English Literature. The first several pages of the Schedule contain information about registration, fees, and placement tests.
New students who want to take ESL are required to take the ESL Placement Test. This test will determine the appropriate ESL classes for you. See the Schedule of Classes for information.
It is important to take the placement test and then register for classes as early as possible since many classes will fill up. If a class that you want is already full when you register, be sure to put your name on the wait list and then attend the first class meeting. You may be able to enroll in the class.
Questions about admission to the college should be directed to the Admissions & Records office:
