Program AnnouncementsCCP - Greetings from CCP! We cordially request your support and participation in Cross Cultural Partners. Each quarter, approximately 25-30 instructors give credit (extra or required) to students who participate in CCP. We expect 300 to 350 students this Fall. We usually have close to 200 ESL student applicants in the Fall! Thus, we especially need fluent English-speaking students.
If you are a new instructor this quarter, we hope to tell you more about CCP in person or you can visit our website at www.deanza.edu/ccpartners/. For more information you may also click on the following: CCP Info.
Tutorial Center - Skills workshops are small, interactive presentations and discussions on a variety of topics. Skills staff provide handouts and lead activities to help you improve study skills such as time management, textbook reading, concentration and memory, skills in English writing, grammar, spelling and vocabulary, and math study strategies. For more info click here: Flyer (Skills).
All workshops are open to any De Anza student, but students enrolled in any Skills class (adjunct or self-paced) will be seated first. Days and times are subject to change without notice, so please check in L47 for the most current schedule. Space in the workshops is limited, so students must sign up in advance in the Workshop Signup Binder at the Skills desk in L47.
Additional workshops are offered in the Writing and Reading Center in ATC 309 and the Listening & Speaking Lab in ATC 304.
Catalyst Activitation - Attention all instructors planning to use Catalyst during Winter Quarter 2008. In order for you to have a Catalyst course(s) in Winter, the following procedures must be followed for updating your Master Shell on the development server, if needed, and activating your live course for the Winter Quarter.
Update requests are processed before activation requests. For example, if you are using the course you taught this Fall for your Winter course as well, then submit an “update your master shell request” and then submit and “activation request”. In the activation request you will use your master shell as the course to populate your live course with content.
Updates and Activations will be done during the same time period. You will receive an email when the process is complete.
For Update and Activation requests:
TO UPDATE YOUR MASTER SHELL
Deadline to request a Master Shell Update for Winter 2008 course is December 4, 2007.
Any work added to your Live Fall 2007 Course after December 4th will not be captured in the update request.
For faculty who want to save changes from fall (or a previous quarter.)
1. Select “Request a current Master Shell be updated using live data.”
2. Complete the form.
3. Any changes made to your Master Shell prior to receiving an email confirmation of the update will not be captured.
TO ACTIVATE YOUR COURSE
Deadline to request Activation of a Winter 2008 course is December 4. 2007.
All faculty planning to use Catalyst must complete this form for each course.
1. Select "Request Activation for Upcoming Quarter"
2. Complete the form.
3. Wait to receive a confirmation that your course has been “activated” - that is, loaded to the live server – before attempting to make any changes to the course.
4. Winter 2008 courses will be available for editing on the live server after December 21.
There will not a course for your students to log in to, if you do not follow this process.
If you don't understand the process for requesting a course, please review the Course Maintenance Visual Map - it's a quick guide to choose what to do.
