The De Anza College Reading Department courses are designed to help students achieve academic, career and personal objectives. Some courses have recommended competencies. These are determined by placement tests; students who have not taken placement tests or are unsure of their scores should contact Testing or call the Assessment Center at (408) 864-8717.
Courses offerings include:

- Developmental Reading
- Critical Reading and Thinking Skills
- Speed and Power Reading
- Guided Practice in Reading
- Reading Fundamentals
