READING DEPARTMENT

The Reading Program is designed to help students become proficient in reading at the college level and gain the confidence and ability to succeed in achieving academic, career, and personal goals. Because students must be able to read well to be successful in all of their college classes, the Reading Instructors design and teach courses that expose students to various types of

literature and teach them to develop thinking skills to analyze authors' ideas and form and support their own opinions about these ideas. In addition to improving reading comprehension, students work to expand their vocabulary, increase reading speed, take notes and prepare for examinations.
