About Me
Education: B.S., University of California at Davis (Nutrition); M.S. The Pennsylvania State University (Nutrition)
Member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, and SCAN (Sports, Cardiovascular and Wellness Nutritionists)
I have been teaching at De Anza College since 1991. Early in my professional life, I worked as a WIC Nutritionist (Women, Infants and Children, a federally funded program) and as a research nutritionist at UCLA. I was a consultant at The Health Research and Studies Center in Los Altos from 1991 until it closed in 2007 where I coordinated research studies involving nutrition and health. I was the nutritionist at the El Camino YMCA in Mountain View for many years.
I teach my students that food is not the enemy. We do not have to choose between eating delicious -- but unhealthy -- food OR eating healthy -- but not so delicious -- food. We CAN enjoy our food without sacrificing good health.
