    Welcome

What work accomplishment are you most proud of this year/term?

    Approval of Minutes and Agenda

Olsen moved, Maynard seconded to approve the 1/28/2020 minutes with correction to a minor typo correction. Minutes approved by consensus.

Maynard moved, Shannakian seconded to approve the 2/10/2020 agenda with correction to a minor typo correction. Agenda approved by consensus.

    April Donor Drive

Olsen proposed the idea of having a donor drive in April for voluntary dues. He and Chung-Tabangcura will be working on flyers to distribute in all campus mailboxes to promote understanding of what dues help fund, including Professional Development Day, Employee of the Month events, ClassiFridays, and Student Support. He also emphasized the following factors:

    • Most contributors are classified staff, and we can reach out to more faculty and administration as well.
    • Classified Senate represents all classified professionals, not just ACE members.
    • Dues can be paid on a monthly basis, or can be a one-time basis.

    Student Voices in Shared Governance

Chung-Tabangcura explained that this effort was initiated a few years ago, and the current group has convened twice since last fall to continue to make progress. Representatives include students, faculty, and staff from VIDA, Office of Equity, Office of College Life, DASB, Academic Senate, and Classified Senate. Some of the topics they are addressing include the following:

    • The Student Voices United for a Change conference is scheduled for May 8, 2020.
    • Equity training for DASB members will be held February 29, 2020.
    • A proposed amendment may allow students who are not on DASB to serve on Shared Governance committees.

Chung-Tabangcura asked that Classified Senate identify whom will mentor the DASB representative (as described in the Bylaws). King said she will review the minutes. Guzman expressed interest in the role. Chung-Tabangcura also suggested that this role could be decided in the annual election or at the leadership retreat so that the person is designated at the start of the year.

Standing Committee & Shared Governance Reports
    • IPBT – Maynard reported there has not been a meeting in the last two weeks.
    • SSPBT – Booye said the last meeting had a short agenda—a presentation on TracDat.
    • College Council - Booye also said there has not been a meeting in the last two weeks.
    • College Planning – Booye said the proposed rubric for SEAP (the Student Equity and Achievement Program consolidates the Basic Skills Initiative (BSI), Student Equity (SE) and the Student Success and Support Program(SSSP)) funding is in draft stage.
    • DASB – Tse said that they approved a donation request for $12,000 from Fund 41 Special Allocations for the Measure G & H Campaign. They are also considering the Student Employee Living Wage Resolution. DASB has an upcoming event on February 13 for Valentine’s Day.

    Professional Development Day Update

Professional Development Day is Friday, May 15, in conference rooms A & B. Those interested in volunteering to help should contact a member of the committee. The day’s agenda is not yet finalized. In the works are a new lunch and a student panel (with 3 DA students, and 3 from FH; hosted by Patrick Ahrens). If you know students who have been positively impacted by interactions with classified professionals, refer them to King.
