News About Planning for Fall Quarter
May 11, 2020
Dear Colleagues,
Thank you to our faculty and classified professionals for participating last week in the surveys about fall quarter.
As you know, we must plan for fall knowing that public health issues are paramount -- and may continue to evolve. For these reasons, and based on responses to the faculty survey, fall quarter will be taught mostly online. Some classes will be held in hybrid format, and Acting Vice President of Instruction Lorrie Ranck and I will be working with faculty and deans to finalize which classes those will be. We will also be working with Vice President of Administrative Services Pam Grey to ensure that extensive cleaning, personal protection, classroom setup and social distancing protocols will be in place. Of course, at the same time, we must be prepared to move any hybrid classes online depending on county health department or state orders.
We are waiting for the classified professional survey to be fully analyzed, and are looking forward to those results. According to an early analysis, 78% of our classified professionals believe that their jobs can be conducted all or mostly online. We will rely on our managers to work with our classified professionals, understanding their personal and family needs, as well as department needs, to determine the best ways to serve our students. Again, we must ensure all necessary health safeguards are in place. The survey results will be posted soon on the college Institutional Research website.
We look forward to talking with you soon at the Senior Staff Q&A via Zoom.
Kindly,
Christina
