Know Your Rights Training Today

Learn about your legal rights and how to respond to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents by attending a free training session today – Monday, Feb. 24 – with representatives from the Rapid Response Network, a collaborative effort by local community service groups. The training will be held from 4-5:30 p.m. in Conference Rooms A&B and online via Zoom.

Spring Registration Assistance

The Outreach Office is offering help with the registration process for spring quarter. All students are welcome to visit RSS 146 for assistance on the following dates and times. (No appointment is needed).

  • Tuesday, Feb. 25: 10:30-11:30 a.m. and 2:30-4 p.m.
  • Wednesday, Feb. 26: 10:30 a.m.-noon and 2-3:30 p.m.
  • Thursday, Feb. 27: 9-10:30 a.m. and 3-4:30 p.m.

2025 Uplifting Immigrant Rights Conference

You can learn how to support immigrant communities at the Global Issues Conference this Wednesday, Feb. 26, from 12:30-3:20 p.m. in Conference Rooms A&B. There will be speakers, student presentations, a resource fair and food. If you have any questions, please contact vidaofficestaff@gmail.com  

The conference is sponsored by VIDA, HEFAS, the Office of Equity and the Academic Senate.

Almost Home: Life After Incarceration

The Rising Scholars program and the Office of Professional Development will host a screening of the film “Almost Home: Life After Incarceration” this Thursday, Feb. 27, from 12:30-3 p.m. in the Multicultural Center. This documentary explores the challenges faced by individuals after incarceration and the positive impact they can have on their community when given the opportunity to succeed.

After the film, there will be a student and staff discussion panel. Audience participation is encouraged. Refreshments will be provided. Please sign up in advance to attend.

Classified professionals and full-time faculty members can earn PGA credit for attending; part-time faculty members can earn compensation. Please sign in at the event to record your participation.

Business Model Competition

De Anza Innovation CenterThe De Anza Innovation Center will host the annual Business Model Canvas Competition next Friday, Feb. 28, from 9:30 a.m.-2 p.m., in MLC 103, 104 and 105. Students will be challenged to form teams and analyze real-world problems, develop strategic business models and propose innovative solutions. Students can compete for a total prize of $1000.


Black History Month

Black Student Union Culture Show

Celebrate Black culture, history and excellence with De Anza’s Black Student Union at their culture show this Wednesday, Feb. 26, from 12:30-2:30 p.m, in the Euphrat Museum of Art.

There will be music, traditional dances, a fashion show and Somali cuisine from Jubba Restaurant. Cultural attire and semi-formal dress is encouraged, as there is a cash prize for best dressed.

Discount on Champion Products

The bookstore is offering a 20% off discount on Champion clothing in-store or online from Feb. 26-March 3.

Sandra Diaz Health Professions Career Panel

The Sandra Diaz Health Professions Career Panel event is next Tuesday, March 4, from 12:15-3 p.m. Registered nurses will share their academic and career journeys will talk about their challenges, celebrations and their current roles on the front lines:

  • Hannah Berberich, BSN, RN, CCRN-NAR 2
  • Christine Jew Miyamoto, BSN, RN, CCRN-NAR 2
  • Jany Melgar, BSN, RN, CCRN-NAR 2
  • Moderator: Adrian Espinosa, MPH, MS, PHN, RN, FNP-BC (co-founder and president of Society of Latinx Nurses)

You can attend in person or online. Please RSVP in advance.

Additional activities will include a clinical skills lab in the Nursing Quad and the dedication of a Sandra Diaz Bench in the S Quad, with songs by Moni Canta. The annual career panel is held in memory of instructor Sandra Diaz.

This event is presented by the Diversity Health Care and Engagement Committee and co-sponsored by DALA, the Office of Equity, MESA, the Nursing Department, Society of Latinx Nurses (SOLN) and UndocuSTEM.
